For most kids, school is back in session. You’ve probably taken your yearly tradition of 1st day of school pictures, and posted them on social media. Throughout the school year, you’ll be taking more images on your phone, documenting your kids lives, so that you don’t miss any milestones, and precious moments.
For most of us, our phones are our only cameras, documenting memories we don’t want to forget. After all, our kids grow up so fast, it is as if they get just a little bit bigger with every image you take.
Recently, we had a mother schedule headshots for her 21 year old twins. As we spoke with her, she very eagerly shared beautiful images she had taken on her phone of the twins, at various ages. When asked why she decided to book headshots for them, she told us that the twins had a very special bond, and that she wanted to have professional images taken of them without her. She even refused to be in the shoot room, and gladly waited in our sitting room as we went through both of their sessions.
She was absolutely right! Watching them get photographed together was a special moment for the two. Probably one they won’t have again for awhile, as they navigate their own adult lives separately.
This is a sobering reminder of how fast time flies, and how important it is for us to make sure we are taking the time to live in the moment. Often times, when we are busy documenting our lives via social media, we miss out on the experience because we are so caught up with capturing images and videos to later look back on.
Getting professional images taken of your kids, whatever age they may be, is a wonderful way to create new memories. If they have dogs, bring them too! Our goal is to create beautiful, natural-looking images of your children, dressed in their best clothes, while capturing each of their unique personalities.
Why not even make it a yearly tradition, and have these images framed or printed for a gallery wall at home? Have family that live far away? These portraits make great yearly greeting cards, and gifts for loved ones.
